First Steelhead
Do you remember the exhilaration of landing your first steelhead?
Marcy Stone's first steelhead.
If you want to impress your girl friend, take the time to teach her how to fly fish.
If she takes to it, she's probably a keeper.

Permit On The Prowl In The Florida Keys
"Permit are readily available in the Florida Keys", says Captain Chris Morrison, from Marathon.

Florida Permit

Chris started reporting big schools of permit a couple of weeks ago.  At first they weren't prone to bite.  Now then are becoming more aggressive.  Cobia, jack crevelle, blue fish, lady fish and sharks provide steady fly fishing action throughout the winter.  The Florida Keys provides a great break from the cold weather in northern latitudes. Remember to book early because of spring break.

George Cook
"Northwest Original Spey Casts"
The Pacific Northwest is a hotbed of spey casting innovation.
George has been researching these developments and will help us put the "Northwest Style" into perspective.
George Cook is the guy in the Sage "Tight Loops" poster of the 1990's.  He taught the "Sage Fly Fishing Schools" in the 1980's and has great casting and
communication skills.
He is a manufacturers representative for Sage, Simms, Rio, Ross & Tibor.
He is pictured at right with a fine
fly-caught Alaskan King Salmon.
George is always at the fly fishing epicenter in that adipose rich band that reaches from Alaskan arctic in the north to the Rogue river in the south.
George Cook

George was one of the chosen ones to appear in Rio's new epic DVD, Rio's Modern spey Casting.  It probably won't surprise you that all of the chosen ones for this tutorial DVD have given key presentations at previous Sandy River Spey Claves.  See George Cook, May 13, 10:30am-11:00am and May 14, 1:00pm-1:30pm.  Another act you won't want to miss is Andy Murray.  Andy is a fly fisher's fly fisher in the Scottish tradition.  He is one of the smoothest fly casters you will ever see.  This programs are May 13, 11:00am-11:30am and the

Andy Murray

same time the following day.  Andy 49, is VP of Sales for House of Hardy, Great Briton's legendary fly tackle maker.  He travels the world developing tackle, keeping in touch with his distributors and giving casting and fishing demonstrations. We first met Andy at the 2002 Sandy River Spey Clave.  His easy, but powerful casting style so impressed the audience that we asked him back in 2003.  Since then he has become one of the corner-stones of the

Clave. Andy has graciously consented to take time from his busy schedule and help uswith a 4-day school on the Deschutes River.
